What Information Should You Put On A Busines Card?

The information you put on a business card is just as important as the design itself.

Since business cards are so small, you have to consider what information you will share and also how much.

This page will give you a list of:

  • essential info you must or should put on a business card, and
  • additional or optional information you can add if you have space.

Why bother planning out what you'll place on your business card?

You will save yourself time and money if you consider what to put on your business cards now instead of later.

Just imagine how you would feel if you realized later (even after passing out your business cards) that you forgot to put something as important as your phone number on the card.

This page will give you a quick overview of what to include on your business card, so that you won't forget the important things and some ideas of things to include that you may not have thought of.

What Information To Include On A Business Card?

Painter Business Card

The receiver of your business card will likely not remember everything about you or what you talked about.   you should design a business card with what I call the "must haves".

A business card must always include:

  • Your business name
  • Logo
  • Your name
  • And at least one way to contact you

Contact methods to consider including:

  • The full address. This will include the street, city, state, and zip code.
  • Company phone number(s) such as office, cell, or fax - if you still use this meth.
  • Social media accounts - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Your website
  • Your personal or company email address.

Then depending on your situation or type of business you can add:

  • A slogan.
  • A very brief description of what your business does or what services it provides.
  • A photo of yourself (mostly a suggestion for realtors).
  • What types of customers you serve (ex: residential or commercial)

Now after you have included that information, use this sample questionnaire to evaluate your card.

Questions To Ask Yourself After You Design A Business Card

Does your business card serve you well? This short questionnaire will help you know whether your card is providing enough of the right information.

All well designed business cards should be able to answer these questions posted below.

  1. Who are you?
  2. What does your business do or provide?
  3. What makes you different from other businesses like you?
  4. Why should I remember or consider about your business?
  5. How can I get in contact with you?

Lastly, check for spelling errors, grammatical errors, and make sure you aren't repeating anything unnecessarily.

Once you have done that, you are all set! And it's time to shift your focus to the design aspect of your business cards.

That's the fun part!
